Minecraft!

Recently I've been playing a lot of Minecraft and I now run a 24/7 server hosted by http://www.cheapestminecraftservers.com/ I could host it myself but home hosting never compares unless you have an expensive internet plan.

Anyway my server is currently being transferred over to cheapest minecraft servers so it's not up now but when once everything is transferred anyone interested in playing the ip/port is   cms.noip.us:25566

Also I forgot to announce the winner of the System mechanic giveaway! The winner is JIM check out his awesome blog at http://videogamesncars.blogspot.com/

Boinc distributed computing network

BOINC is a program that leverages the computing power of ordinary computers to help different organizations such as Rosetta@home which uses your computers idle processing power to help find cures to diseases. I previously did a post about BOINC but recently the network has become extremely powerful. Combined BOINC has over 2.4 million users and 6.2 petaflops of computing power! For a comparison the worlds most powerful supercomputer is 10.5 petaflops. Of course the 6.2 petaflops is divided amongst many different organizations like I mentioned earlier such as Rosetta, SETI, Einstein, and many others. I currently participate in Rosetta, Seti and Einstein. Seti sends out data collected from the Arecibo satelite - the largest satellite in the world- in search of extraterrestrial life, and Einstein searches for Pulsars or black holes. So far seti hasn't found much of anything but Einstein and Rosetta frequently make discoveries, last year someones home computer running Einstein found a black hole!

Fisker Atlantic - Plug in electric car

The new Fisker Atlantic is a high performance mid size electric plug-in coupe featuring an electric engine around 300HP. The expected pricing of this new car is expected to be roughly 50-60k. With all the financial difficulty Fisker is currently having hopefully this lower priced coupe (compared to Karma) will do well.
