AMD Opteron 6200 series wins award for "Best server processor"

AMD's mega powerful 16-core server processor won the Group Analystc' Choice Award. These new cpu's allow for extremely powerful 1u server systems and high efficiency low power performance. What's this mean for the normal person... eh nothing but still neat to know!

  2. Ha love AMD. Not hating on Intel but AMD has the best power:cost:power consumption ratio most of the time. Im glad they took it.

  3. I could use one of those! I wonder when they'll be the standard for laptops and not just servers.

  7. I have AMD and my hubby told me I was silly to get a computer that didn't have Intel. Ha ha, hubby is soooo wrong!

  8. In my honest opinion, it is kind of stupid to get anything past 2 cores from AMD, just, the temperatures and power most of their CPU's rank up have no match for Intel. :)

  12. That is one beastly CPU. Though for it's job, you probably need two of them.

  16. Are we going to have to come up with a name other than core at some point? To me, the core is the middle. I've never seen an apple with 16 cores.
